With gratitude for the much appreciated natural scenery that surrounds us, it is our responsibility to give something back to nature or to do as little damage to it as possible.
- All the bulbs in the hotel were swapped for long-life LED in 2015. The power saved per year is 16,000 KW.
- We started growing an energy plantation in April 2015: poplars were cultivated on our own fields to grow the plants for wood chips ourselves and therefore not have to purchase and have wood chip material delivered.
- Wood chip heating: Co2 neutral - thus saving approx. 50,000 litres of heating oil per year.
- Swimming pool heating from May to September with heat recovery from refrigeration engines.
- Service water is preheated using heat recovery.
- Products from the region: Whenever possible and justified we purchase products from the region to protect local producers and avoid long deliveries.
- Waste is carefully separated and disposed of in an environmentally acceptable manner.
- Flowers are watered with rainwater from the hotel’s own cistern
- Financial support for the local football club as well as the kindergarten to preserve the local culture and structures.
- But little things, like questioning the necessity, are also important: Does this file / email actually have to be printed out? Am I using enough but not too much washing up liquid or washing detergent? Is a lit and heated wellness area necessary at the moment or are all the guests currently out of the hotel?
- With the installation of a new photovoltaic plant we can now produce 30% of the power that we consume ourselves.
